Imani Yasin
She, Her, Hers | Baltimore, MD | Facilitator
Imani Yasin is a youth advocate, educator, mentor, and facilitator who has committed herself to developing catalysts for positive change by leading and working alongside Baltimore City youth since 2007. She is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, and a minor in Law & Society. Her passion and drive for youth development, facilitation, and mentorship is a direct result of the impact that supportive adults, educators, and mentors had on her own life. Her professional track record includes completing 2 terms of service as an Americorps Member, serving as a social and emotional learning Program Coordinator and Athletic Coach, working as a Baltimore City Teacher, being an international group leader, and leading as the Director of High School Programs at Sisters Circle, a non-profit mentoring organization based in northeast Baltimore. Currently, she is a Technical Assistance Consultant at Maryland Mentor, the local affiliate for The National Mentoring Partnership, where she provides direct consultation and training to mentoring organizations across the state of Maryland.
In addition to her career in youth development, Imani is also a hip hop artist and songwriter. She has been creating and showcasing her work for over 7 years and has performed on a variety of stages including Metro Gallery, The Alpha Female Festival, AFRAM, Baltimore Pride and more. Whenever possible, Imani likes to fuse her creativity into her work - using it as a way to engage students and facilitate meaningful conversations amongst peers. In 2018, Imani appeared on WBAL TV 11 to discuss the impact of mentorship in the lives of youth, and in 2019 she was recognized as a "Woman to Watch" by the Baltimore Philomathians, a multi-generational group of professional leaders and innovators in their respective fields.
