Vidhya Aravind

She, Her | Facilitator | Detroit, MI

Vidhya Aravind (she/her) is an organizer, educator, and facilitator who has worked in organized labor, student racial justice organizations, trans healthcare advocacy, and mutual aid groups. Her approach to facilitation is profoundly values focused, with an emphasis on developing a person’s capacity to find their own way forward in their work, guided by discovering and aligning themselves with their core values. In particular, Vidhya works with people to democratize their organizing or work spaces, navigate conflict and harm, and develop social justice curricula. Currently, she serves as the Learning Director for We The People. While a student at University of Michigan, where she earned a Master's of Information, she participated in immigrant, labor, trans, and police accountability activism, and was particularly instrumental in major wins by the Graduate Employees' Organization 3550. She hopes to honor the trans women of color that came before her by organizing material aid and community structures for local trans folks in need. In her spare time, she facilitates workshops for queers, plays games of all kinds, intentionally finds ways to spend time with her trans family, and is slowly transforming into an outdoors lesbian.
